Iraqi government forces free students held as hostages

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Iraqi government troops on Saturday freed a number of students held as hostages by gunmen of the radical "Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant," also known as "Daesh," at the University of Al-Anbar. Iraqi Ministry of Interior said the security personnel freed all students who were held by the gunmen at Anbar University and took control of passageways to the building premises. The gunmen, earlier today, burst into the university compound, holding at gunpoint a number of students. The university is located in Al-Ramadi governorate, west of Baghdad. The ministry had earlier said that the attackers set off two booby-trapped cars outside the compound to pave way for storming the university, which was later sealed off by the government forces.
