Kuwait- "Journey of Hope" boat anchors in Alexandria


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Kuwaiti-sponsored Journey of Hope boat, promulgating care of people with mental disabilities, arrived in the port city of Alexandria on Saturday on its 19-nation tour. Governor of Alexandria, Maj. General Tariq Al-Mahdi, welcoming the crew and passengers of the boat, said that the mission undertaken by the boat set a great example for acts of humanity and compassion for those in need of our respect and help such as people with mental disabilities. By arriving in Alexandria, the boat has so far travelled 4,180 nautical miles since it sailed from Kuwait on May 1st of this year, having stopped in five GCC countries and heading to Europe after Egypt, said Yousif Al-Jassem, the executive director of the tour, in a statement to KUNA. He extoled Egyptian authorities for facilitating the sailing of the boat to the Egyptian ports of Hurghada and Port Ghalib and, today, Alexandria. Besides Governor of Alexandria, the boat was welcomed also by deputy ambassador of Kuwait to Egypt Muhammad Al-Muhammad and assistant military attache at the embassy Lt. Colonel Bashar Abdul-Redha.
