Riyadh Triathletes reigning champion Ball boosts his lead

(MENAFN - Arab News) The second full triathlon of the season saw an excellent attendance of 76 athletes taking part with many friends and family members supporting.

the full event entailed a 600m swim 20km bike and a 4.5km run at ishbilia compound in calm yet hot conditions.

an impressive swim by kate scott meant she was first out of the water in a speedy 9 minutes 37 seconds. but with the top 4 fastest swimmers finishing the swim all within 4 seconds of each other her lead was soon taken by last season's club champion martin ball. an exceptional bike gave martin nearly a 3 minute lead over his nearest competitor brett girven as it came to the run. alberto martinez gained 3 places with the fastest run split of 18m 14s. however he was unable to catch martin who finished an impressive 4m 45s ahead of second place alberto.

first female and overall 4th place went to rosie wild who must now be looking to take the season title. cameron ball once again took first junior and overall 6th which was all the more impressive after a crash on the bike cost him a couple of minutes.

other category winners included alberto martinez (male open) martin ball (male veteran) franck guerin (male master) paul mcparland (male senior) rosie wild (female open) annie wild (female master) cameron ball (junior).

riyadh triathletes would like to thank the management of ishbilia for hosting the event and the main sponsors airbus defense and space 2xu and carrefour ?5 le mall.
