(MENAFN - Arab News) The saudi coast guard in al-khafji has captured crew members illegally selling diesel to other ships in the arabia gulf waters local media reported.
the coast guard also seized bottles of liquor and more than 300000 on board the ship acquired in the form of proceeds from selling the illegal diesel to ships and marine vessels operating in the gulf waters.
the captured ship was affiliated to a saudi-kuwaiti oil company and had been selling oil products to other ships operating outside saudi territorial waters according to brig. gen. khalid al-arqubi coastal guard spokesman.
the arrested crew members were asian nationals and the spokesman indicated that an investigation is currently under way.
this is the third instance in which the saudi coast guard has seized smuggled fuel.
