(MENAFN) Local Japanese media reported that imported car sales in the country declined 20.7 percent in May on yearly basis to 20,602 units, Xinhua reported.
Sales of foreign-brand dropped to 17,919 units, down 13.4 percent from the previous year, Japan Automobile Importers Association said.
Meanwhile, those of Japanese-brand vehicles which were made abroad plunged 49.1 percent to 2,683 units.
Sales of Mercedes-Benz dropped 23.5 percent to 3,076 units, for a 14.93 percent share, followed by BMW with 2,482 units, down 29.0 percent, for a market share of 12.05 percent.
