Japan's imported car sales dip 20.7 percent in May


(MENAFN) Local Japanese media reported that imported car sales in the country declined 20.7 percent in May on yearly basis to 20,602 units, Xinhua reported. Sales of foreign-brand dropped to 17,919 units, down 13.4 percent from the previous year, Japan Automobile Importers Association said. Meanwhile, those of Japanese-brand vehicles which were made abroad plunged 49.1 percent to 2,683 units. Sales of Mercedes-Benz dropped 23.5 percent to 3,076 units, for a 14.93 percent share, followed by BMW with 2,482 units, down 29.0 percent, for a market share of 12.05 percent.
