US trade deficit hits USD47.2b in April


(MENAFN) According to the US Commerce Department, the country's trade deficit of goods and services increased in April, led by exports slight decrease and imports increase, Xinhua reported. The total trade deficit expanded to USD47.2 billion in April, up USD3 billion from March, while it was USD6.8 billion more than that of last year, the data showed. The country's exports decreased USD300 million to USD193.3 billion, while imports advanced by USD2.7 billion from the previous month to USD240.6 billion. "Trade deficit subtracted 0.95 percentage points from the gross domestic product growth in the first quarter, bigger than the initial estimate of 0. 83 percentage points," the Commerce Department said.
