Oman's MoM moves to resolve strike at steel factory


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Officials from the Ministry of Manpower (MoM) held meetings to resolve a labour strike at the Al Jazeera Steel Products factory in North Batinah on Tuesday, according to a ministry press release. Also attending were representatives from the General Union of Workers of Oman, and company officials.

During the meeting, Mahfoudh bin Hamdan al Wahaibi, director general of manpower in the North Batinah governorate discussed the need for amicable dialogue by all parties to resolve labour issues, and the need for flexibility to reach a solution.

The meeting continued by working through the main points outlined by the workers in a letter, before all parties reached a conclusion. The MoM stated that the strike had been since concluded, and workers resumed their duties following a decision by the company to implement the agreed upon points.
