Pension for Omanis employed in other GCC countries discussed


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The Youth and Human Resources Committee of the Shura Council on Wednesday held a meeting to discuss provision of pension to Omani citizens working in the GCC countries.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Salem bin Ali al Hajri, deputy president of the committee.

A press release stated that the meeting comes as a result of applications filed by citizens working in other GCC countries to include them in the Pension Fund or Social Insurance Law.

Salem bin Mohammed al Darmaki, director general of Civil Service Pension Fund, affirmed that the fund was ready to provide assistance to Omanis working in other GCC countries at the termination of their service.

Meanwhile, the Legislative and Legal Committee of the Shura Council held a meeting to discuss a report on the amendment of two articles regarding the Criminalisation of Alcohol Consumption and Trading in the Penal Code. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of  Nasir bin Khamis al Khamisi, a member of the committee.

The report was referred by the council's office, and the amendment was proposed by Humaid bin Ali al Nasri, a member of the committee. The committee has decided to adopt the proposal and refer it to the council for voting.

It also discussed the amendment of provisions in the Traffic Law, referred by the government.

In addition to these, the committee discussed a proposal to amend Royal Decree 42/2008, which grants the Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar powers referred from the council. The proposal was submitted by Salem bin Mohammed al Mashani, a Shura representative from the wilayat of Taqah in Dhofar governorate.
