(MENAFN - Arab News) Al-zayedi group for development and investment has launched the sr70 million al-zayedi plant for cement products.

the launching ceremony was attended by maher jamal chairman of the makkah chamber of commerce and industry and mishaal al-zayedi president of the al-zayedi group.

al-zayedi stressed the role of the private sector in the development of the country.

''this project has been launched in makkah with the aim of participating in the urbanization process of makkah and to provide better amenities with the help of advanced technology in addition to fulfilling the national duty of providing plenty of employment opportunities to the saudi youth'' al-zayedi said. the plant has a capacit of manufacturing 100000 blocks and 5000 interlock blocks daily.

large contracts totaling sr20 million were signed including projects in makkah and development of the paving of the jeddah islamic port.

the projects being undertaken by the company include development of the al-aziziyah road al-awali streets jeddah corniche and entrances of asfan and shamiah.

the interlock blocks manufactured by the company are used for pavement construction and public parks. it also produces blocks insulated against sound and heat in line with the most advanced specifications demanded by the ministry of electricity to save energy.

a number of outstanding workers of the group were also honored during the function.
