Saudi electric consumption boosts 6.8 percent in 2013


(MENAFN) Saudi Arabia's consumption of electricity boosted by 6.8 percent to 256.7 million megawatt in 2013 compared to 240.3 megawatt a year earlier, according to Arab News. The housing sector captured the biggest portion of electric consumption at 49 percent in 2013, followed by the industrial sector at 20 percent, and the commercial sector at 13 percent. On the other hand, the Eastern Province's industrial power consumption boosted by about 80 percent of the sector's total consumption Kingdomwide in 2013, despite the fact that EP's subscribers were not the highest.
