(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) World Bank President Jim Kim said Tuesday his organization was keen on assisting countries who were damaged by wars, and urged the international community to be ready for peace and economic opportunities in Syria. Kim, speaking in a dialogue with universities' students at the Education Ministry's building, said the Middle East region was at a critical juncture because of the political crises, which might spread to other countries. He hoped the economic conditions would improve in Lebanon, as he acknowledged a "desperate" progress in the energy sector. The World Bank is playing a leading role in supporting the establishment of educational institutions in the region, as well as seeking integration in transport and trade worldwide, added Kim. The World Bank President commended Lebanon's efforts to hosting over a million Syrian refugees, but said the country needed financial support to honor the growing number of refugees. Kim offered the Lebanese government easy loans finance a power project.
