Illegally fished shrimp seized in Oman's Al Wusta governorate

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) A team from the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MoAF) recently seized an estimated 615kg of shrimp netted illegally, as the official shrimp season in the sultanate is from September to November.

A press release said that the haul, which had been prepared for sale, was confiscated after the Directorate of Fisheries in Al Wusta received a call informing it of vehicles carrying shrimps from Sahil Sarab area heading towards South Sharqiyah.

The raid was carried out in cooperation with Mahout police. MoAF bans fishing of shrimps during their breeding season in order to ensure adequate stocks in the waters, the release said.
