Oman to meet Italy in WCL Division 4 opener


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Oman will begin its campaign in the ICC World Cricket League (WCL) Division 4 when it takes on Italy in Singapore on June 21.

The sultanate team, coached by former Sri Lankan Test star Duleep Mendis and captained by stumper-batsman Sultan Ahmed, will vie with Denmark, Jersey, Malaysia, Italy and hosts Singapore in the competition from which the top two sides will progress to Division 3.

The matches will be played at the grounds in Kallang, the Singapore Cricket Club and the India Association. Kallang will stage the final. The competition will be played from June 21-28.

Squad: Sultan Ahmed (capt), Syed Amir Ali, Munis Ansari, Arif Hussain, Syed Aamir Kaleem, Ajay Lalcheta, Sufyan Mahmood, Zeeshan Maqsood, Nadeem Mohammed, Rajesh Kumar Ranpura, Zeeshan Siddiqui, Jatinder Singh, Adnan Ilyas and Vaibhav Wategaonkar.

Oman's fixtures: June 21: vs Italy (Singapore Cricket Club), June 22: vs Jersey (SCC); June 24: vs Denmark (India Association); June 25: vs Singapore (Kallang); June 27: vs Malaysia (Kallang).
