(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Oul june 02 (qna) - south korea the united states and china are discussing appropriate conditions to resume the stalled six-way nuclear talks south korea's top nuclear negotiator said.

hwang joon-kook made the remark to reporters shortly after arriving in washington on sunday according to korea's (kbs world) website.

hwang stressed appropriate conditions need to be set to get the nuclear negotiations back on track since the north has already conducted three nuclear tests. he noted that the north carried out two of the tests during the past five years when the six-nation talks were stalled. he said the parties cannot just resume the talks as if nothing had happened.

hwang's remark suggests that substantive measures are likely to be planned to reopen the six-party talks ahead of a south korea-china summit set for this month.

on monday hwang will hold talks with his u.s. counterpart glyn davies at the u.s. state department. hwang's visit to washington comes some 50 days after he visited the u.s. shortly after becoming south korea’s top nuclear envoy. (qna)
