Foreign Investors' Net Purchase in S. Korea Continues for 2nd Month


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Oul june 01 (qna) - foreign investors were net buyers of south korean stocks for the second month in may snapping up nearly 2 trillion won (us$1.96 billion) worth of equities data showed sunday.

according to the data by the korea exchange offshore investors' net purchase of stocks traded on the country's main bourse stood at 1.95 trillion won last month compared with net buying of 2.8 trillion won the previous month (yonhap) news agency reported.

last month's figure came as foreigners were net buyers for the 14th straight trading day starting may 13 the longest buying streak for a month.

the may tally raised foreign investors' cumulative net buying of local stocks to 1.24 trillion won for the first five months of this year.

between january and march this year foreign investors remained net sellers with the amount reaching a combined 3.51 trillion won.

in may foreign investors' net buying of samsung electronics shares came to 634.4 billion won the largest among local companies followed by sk hynix with 398.2 billion won and korea electric power corp. with 262.1 billion won.

on the secondary kosdaq market offshore investors recorded a net selling of 144.8 billion won last month a turnaround from the previous month's net buying of 230.1 billion won according to the data. (qna)
