(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) Value-concept shopping destination gearing up for expansion

visitor numbers at dubai outlet mall have recorded a significant growth with the opening of several new stores at the shopping destination a top official has revealed.

“the growth has been satisfying” said vishal mahajan director of dubai outlet mall. “we are over 98 per cent leased as of [today] with a better quality of brands coming to the mall and wanting to take space. the shopper numbers have exhibited a constant double-digit growth year after year and as of now we have over 25000 to 30000 people visiting the mall on the weekends.”

speaking in an exclusive interview with khaleej times mahajan revealed that the mall which opened in august 2007 with over 70 per cent occupancy and over 800 international brands currently offers more than 1200 brands in over 240 stores.

“dubai outlet mall is the only value-concept mall in the region with everyday bargains and great prices. here you can get big international brands at affordable prices” mahajan said.

“yes the expansion plan has been on the cards for some time but we are working more seriously now towards development. phase two will be expanding the outlet mall.”

“we are over 98 per cent leased and are being careful to shortlist the applications to add on to the value offerings further for our mall customers” he added.

asked about the main segments in the mall which drew visitors mahajan said: “fashion is the main draw and other categories such as footwear lifestyle sports f&b and accessories all together concludes a perfect destination for the whole family.”

highlighting the importance of local events in drawing visitors he explained that dubai outlet mall participates in all the major festivals such as the dubai shopping festival dubai summer surprises and eid in dubai.

“we also celebrate different events like diwali and nowruz and likewise organise value centric activities like the star hunt event the kite festival and the health and wellness festival which are our signature annual events” said mahajan. “during the festivals mall enjoys a healthy footfall as customers come to enjoy bargains and celebrations. dubai outlet mall truly celebrates all seasons from fashion to festivals.”
