uae head coach mahdi ali has urged the players of the national team to put the result of the first clash against armenia behind them and focus on the upcoming challenges. ali told the players that they did well but they need to work harder at this early stage to cover major part of the long distance ahead before the gulf cup and afc asian cup.

speaking to the players before the workout on wednesday ali praised the commitment of the players to the programme during the current training camp and urged them to make the utmost benefit from the exercises and friendlies.

the uae senior football national team returned to action to start preparations for the second test against georgia on june 3 before they conclude their current swiss tour. the whites are eyeing glory in the gulf cup (khaliji 22) to defend their title in saudi arabia in november while looking forward to claim their first continental silverware in the afc asian cup finals in australia in january 2015.

the players stretched their legs at a nearby training facility after a short break that has followed the opening match which the uae have lost 3-4 to armenia.

the technical staff has been working with the players from the psychological physical and technical aspects to get ready for the upcoming commitments. the head coach and his assistants are also trying to make good the weak points which have appeared in the first match against armenia while working to develop the positive ones.

ali has tried 17 players against armenia. the players who started the match were keeper khaled essa hamdan al kamali ismail ahmed abdul aziz haikal walid abbas habib fardan khamis ismail omer abdul rahman ismail al hammadi ahmed khalil ali mabkhout. substitutes: muhanad al enazi essa ahmed mohammed ahmed salem saleh ali salmin and mohammed abdul rahman. other players who remained in the resrve bench included keeper ali khusaif keeper ahmed mahmoud mahmoud khamis majid hassan yousuf saeed ahmed rabie and mohammed fawzi.

uae team’s manager mutrif al shamsi commented: “despite the defeat against armenia the benefits were immense notably as we tried many players from the youngsters and debutants to gain more experience and exposure. the armenians played a big game and their speedy players have perfectly executed the counterattacks. we could have achieved a better result had the players managed to capitalise on the opportunities which came their way.”

“such friendlies are useful for the head coach and his assistants who will work on every single negative or positive points which they record and make good the weak points which develop the good ones. we are confident that our players deserve all confidence to bounce back and show the best of them in the georgian test” he added.

meanwhile obaid salem al shamsi vice-president of the uaefa and chairman of the national teams committee thanked the members of the administrative and technical staffs and reiterated the keenness of the association to support the national team to continue their positive results.
