German Foreign Minister Visits Syrian Refugees in Lebanon


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Irut may 30 (qna) - german foreign minister frank-walter steinmeier arrived friday in eastern lebanon to visit syrians displaced by the civil war at home.



he traveled to the bar elias camp in the area of bekaa valley with a delegation from the un refugee agency (unchr).

he was to meet with the head of unhcr's lebanon mission ninette kelley in the agency's registration facility in the eastern area of zahle.

steinmeier was expected to hand over ambulance cars donated by the german red cross to the lebanese red cross.



germany has donated more than 100 million euros to international organisations providing support to syrian refugees and host communities in lebanon dpa reported.

an estimated 1.1 million syrians are living as refugees in lebanon.(qna)
