(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Bul may 29 (qna) - the ministry of foreign affairs of afghanistan on wednesday summoned pakistan's ambassador to afghanistan abrar hussain over cross-border shelling.
afghan deputy foreign minister for political affairs ershad ahmadi lodged strong protest with abrar hussain over the cross-border shelling in eastern kunar and nuristan and other parts of afghanistan.
according to (khaama press) the foreign ministry issued a statement saying that ahmadi also conveyed the government's concerns regarding the building of military installations along the durand line.
the statement further added that ahmadi strongly condemned the shelling by pakistani military and warned that such interventions will harm the relations between the two nations.
ahmadi also warned that the continued cross-border shelling by pakistani military will have negative repercussions as the people of afghanistan have become frustrated with the cross-border incursions which have left dozens of people dead or injured besides incurring damages to the local residents.
pakistan's ambassador to afghanistan has said that the concerns of the government of afghanistan will be referred to concerned officials in pakistan.
afghan president hamid karzai on wednesday also asked the commander of the nato forces in afghanistan gen. joseph dunford and us ambassador to afghanistan to provide details regarding the continued cross-border shelling from the other side of durand line.
according to afghan officials the pakistani military has fired over 300 rockets in eastern kunar province of afghanistan during the past two days.
local officials said at least one person was killed and 14 others were injured following the cross-border shelling in dangam and shegal districts of kunar province. (qna)
