Largest Pakistani Taliban group splinters from TTP

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Azam Tariq, spokesman of the Mehsud faction of the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on Wednesday announced that his group under the leadership of Khalid Mehsud, has formally separated from the militant group. Tariq, who was also a central member of the Taliban Shura, made the announcement in a press conference from an undisclosed location, media reported. He said that TTP's control has fallen into the hands of invisible hands due to a gang of plotters within. "The controversy over sect, cult and ideology has given rise to distrusts and misgivings among other sections of Taliban. We tried our best for reforms and unity within the TTP, but the gang of plotters seemed to have succeeded," he said. According to Defense Analysts, Mehsud Taliban was the largest group associated with TTP and the separation has broken the backbone of the bloody movement of Pakistani Taliban against the state. The groups under the umbrella of TTP were having some ideological differences and were locked in bloody clashes for the past several weeks leading to the separation of the Mehsud group, said defense analysts. Earlier, Pakistan government offered peace dialogues to the banned outfit but the infighting among the factions had also lead to little progress made in the peace negotiations with government.
