(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) In yet another initiative to show its support and encouragement of Omani culture, BankDhofar sponsored the 14thAnnual Camel Race in the wilayat of Thumrait and the first Camel Racing Festival in the wilayat Al Kamil W'Al Wafi in Dhofar.
The first event was organised as part of the Thumrait Festival under the Office of the Secretary of State and Governor of Dhofar's representative office and H E Dr Fuad bin Jaafar al Sajwani, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries. Among those dignitaries present were H E Sayyid Mohammed bin Sultan al Busaidi, Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar and H E Sheikh Saad bin Mohammed bin Said al Mardhouf al Saadi, Minister of Sports Affairs.
The first Camel Racing Festival in Al Kamil W'Al Wafi was under the auspices of H E Sheikh Saud bin Badr al Barwani, Wali of Al Kamil W'Al Wafi in addition to Sheikh Said al Ghufaili, chairman of the Oman Society for Camel Races. Commenting on Bankhofar's role in the event, Sami bin Omar al Zadjali, head of marketing and corporate communications of BankDhofar said, ''As a financial institution that aspires to remain the best bank for the people, BankDhofar takes pride in supporting events that celebrate Omani culture and traditional sport.

In addition to the riveting Camel Race in the wilayat of Thumrait, the event also included an exhibition of heritage handicrafts such as pottery ware, leather goods, silverware and other similar artefacts made by members of the Omani Women's Association. Adding to the traditional spread on display was an exhibition of agricultural products organised by the Department of Agricultural Development.
