(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwait's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah arrived in the Algerian capital on Tuesday to head the national delegation taking part in the 17th Non-Aligned Movement Conference due to begin on Wednesday.
Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled, who was heading a delegation of ranking officials, was welcomed upon arrival by the Kuwaiti Ambassador to Algeria, Saud Faisal Dewish, the Kuwaiti Ambassador to Mauritania, Adnan Al-Ahmad, Kuwaiti diplomats, and the director of the Arab Orient and the Arab League at the Algerian Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Mohammad Yarqi.
Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled, in an arrival statement, said he was pleased to be present in the brotherly country, Algeria, which hosts the NAM ministerial conference.
NAM is staying abreast of contemporary events, he said, indicating that he along with his fellow conferees would discuss various political, economic development issues of concern for the movement member countries.
Other topics can be raised during the meeting, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled added, noting that Non-Aligned Movement "can turn into a strong bloc if the members harmonize stance at international quarters.
"This is what we aspire to," he stated, affirming keenness on coordination with Algerian leaders to tackle various political issues of common concern at the international level.
Earlier, the head of the Kuwaiti delegation, involved in preparatory talks for tomorrow's ministerial gathering, affirmed the State of Kuwait, since its independence, has been an active member in the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) movement, maintaining close coordination with NAM's member states on various policies.
Kuwait, since its independence, has been an effective member country in the movement and "deals with it in harmony with several axes of its foreign policy," said Ambassador Jassem Al-Mubaraki, the head of the Kuwaiti delegation of experts, taking part in NAM's 17th conference.
