US "strongly condemns" attack in Syria on OPCW, UN convoy

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The United States "strongly condemns" an attack on a convoy of inspectors from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and United Nations staff that was traveling to the site of an alleged chlorine gas attack in Syria, State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said on Tuesday. The OPCW reported that all team members are safe and well and are traveling back to the operating base, Psaki said during a briefing. US officials "call on all parties to grant safe, secure and unfettered access to OPCW and UN staff working in Syria," she said. "We commend the brave OPCW and UN staff working in Syria during an ongoing war, and we thank them for their continued resolve to ensuring the accomplishment of their vital work".
