(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) One of sultanate's most popular tourism websites, www.destinationoman.com, has again won an award at the recently concluded Oman Web Awards held at Al Bustan Palace, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel on May 21. It has won awards on earlier occasions too.
The aesthetically designed website developed by InteracOman was founded in 2001 by long time resident and entrepreneur Deepak Nair, and usually shows up on the first page of Google and other major search engines when a search is fired for Oman or Oman tourism related keywords. It has all relevant information what a potential tourist to Oman could be looking for, from how to arrive, where to stay, where to go, how to travel, what to see, what to do, what to eat, and more.
The surging popularity and constant requests for ‘free printed booklet' from the visitors, after the launch of the website, spurred Nair to come out with an annual printed edition by the same name DestinationOman in 2004. The printed edition has been a hit since it was launched, and is regarded much like a respected and credible showcase of Oman's tourism potential. The book is made up of stunning photographs and stories of Oman's tourism destinations and the abundant natural beauty it is bestowed with.
Many celebrated photographers and writers have contributed to its success over the years. The year 2014 marks the tenth anniversary issue of the publication. Speaking on the occasion, Nair, the founder of website said he was proud that DestinationOman is today recognised as a compelling brand on Oman tourism. He expressed his gratefulness to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, and in particular the Ministry of Tourism for always encouraging and supporting his humble endeavours.
