(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The cabinet discussed preparations for His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's visit to Tehran and approved a number of draft decrees of cooperation agreements with several friendly countries in its weekly meeting held at Seif Palace Monday.
Firstly, the cabinet was briefed about the preparations for His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's Tehran visit next week and and his accompanying delegation.
The ministers expressed hopes that the visit will give a push to bilateral cooperation and strengthen ties between the two nations.
The cabinet also reviewed and approved an agreement for reciprocal encouragement and protection of investment between Kuwait and Kenya; an agreement for security cooperation for countering terrorism, organized crimes, human and drug trafficking between Kuwait and Cyprus; and prisoners extradition agreement between Kuwait and India.
It also endorsed a bill to join Minamata Convention on Mercury. The agreements were referred to His Highness the Amir.
The cabinet ratified a bill amending sports institutions law to facilitate club boards' meetings and work.
The ministers have also given the thumbs up to a proposal to move the Offset Program from the Finance Ministry to the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority.
The ministers reviewed the letter sent to His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah from Italian counterpart Matteo Renzi. The letter focused on means to expand bilateral cooperation in different domains.
They also reviewed an invitation letter sent to His Highness the Prime Minister from the Bolivian President Evo Morales to participate in the Group of 77 China meeting in Bolivia on June 14 to discuss the new world order.
The ministers discussed the main issues on the agenda of the coming National Assembly sessions.
They also debated the latest political developments in the Arab region and on the international level arena.
