Oman- A meeting with heroes served as a catalyst

(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Saif al Sumri and Hamyar al Ismaily, present and past Fanja chairmen, said the club had organised a get-together last week during which the current team got to meet up with former Fanja heroes - a move that perhaps further motivated the players in their successful push for the HM's Cup title on Saturday.

Sumri said, ''The meeting with veteran stalwarts, who still command a lot of respect in the country, turned out to be a catalyst that boosted the boys' confidence.''

Former Fanja stars like Ahmed al Balushi, Talib Hilal, Abdulrahim al Hajri, Salim Mansoor, Alay al Abri, Abdulkadir al Busaidy, Haroon Amour and Mohammed al Wahaibi attended the event.

Ismaily said, ''The boys were delighted to meet them. These veterans are still respected for their feats even after 20-30 years. Here is a chance for you to emulate them, we told the players, and fans will remember you for decades. The meeting gave the team a huge fillip.''

Sumri lauded Fanja's board members as well - in particular, Ahmed al Busaidy (vice-chairman), Yaqub al Rashdy (general secretary), Ahmed al Habsi (treasurer) and Said al Busaidy - for the club's latest triumph.<
