(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) The immensely popular and one of the fastest growing retail chain in the region Lulu Hypermarket has bagged the coveted Middle East Retail Academy (MERA) award for the third time in a row. 

This year's MERA awards included four submission-based categories, including two brand new awards. All entries were assessed by a VIP Jury of retail channel experts, with the overall winner in each category announced at the MERA: 2014 Awards' Gala Dinner held in Abu Dhabi in conjunction with DISTREE Middle East Event on May 21. Lulu Hypermarket Oman was nominated by the awards' select committee in the Best Retailer of the Year award' category.

While Lulu Hypermarkets from across the region were nominated for other awards, Lulu Bahrain won the Best Retailer of the Year award. Lulu's performance in the PC, tablets, PC accessories, tablet and phone accessories, imaging, storage, smart phones, hardware and networking software, audio accessories and wearable's categories earned The Most Improved Retailer of the Year award'.

Lulu Hypermarkets were also given a special commendation and inducted into the Hall of Fame' for their overall contribution to the retail sector across the Middle East. Zohair Jamali Buyer (IT products) from Lulu Hypermarkets -Oman won the Best retail Executive Of the year Ananth AV, regional director for Lulu Hypermarkets Oman said, ''The Middle East Retail Academy Awards is a unique event that unites all key players in the industry and we are very proud to be the winners for Oman.
