Oman- MoSD announces website for the physically challenged

(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) The Ministry of Social Development (MoSD) on Monday announced the launch of a new website for the benefit of the physically challenged in the sultanate. The announcement was made at a day-long seminar titled, 'Policies dealing with disability and its prospect in Arab countries'.

The main aim of the seminar was to address the challenges faced by physically challenged people in the region.

The new website will have information related to various equipment that are needed to make physically challenged independent.

Users will get information on different schemes provided by the ministry by just registering on the website.

Meanwhile, talking about accessibility to the online system, a senior MoSD official said, ''The website can be accessed from any place having Internet coverage. The website will have comprehensive data collected with the help of call centres. Once a disabled person registers on the website, he can get access to the schemes and facilities offered by the ministry.''

Awadh Moosa Awadh Asumyrat, head of the 35-member Arab Council Committee for Disabled said, ''We want to work jointly to bring a revolution on development and mainstreaming of the physically challenged.  We have achieved certain targets but we need to do much more to make them part of our day to day life. Our aim is to bring in a positive change and everyone will have to come forward and contribute towards it to make it happen.''<
