(MENAFN - Arab News) The labor ministry has warned public service offices against providing recruitment mediation services and said they would be fined sr10000 per violation.

it also urged these offices to correct their status quickly.

the statement cautioned saudis and expats against approaching unauthorized agencies for the recruitment of maids and other workers. some of these agencies claim they provide mediation services it said.

'we have not allowed any unlicensed agency to provide recruitment services" the ministry said. 'the agencies should obtain licenses to provide labor recruitment services."

the ministry urged the public to approach licensed recruitment agencies directly for services. 'the service offices that provide recruitment mediation services violate the kingdom's laws."

the statement cautioned the public that unlicensed agencies would not be able to meet their requirements and fulfill their pledges.

however the ministry pointed out that it had allowed officials of public service offices to visit labor offices to present and follow up on the applications of people who are unable to do it themselves.

'but some offices exploited this special consideration to publicize that they are recruitment mediators" the statement said.

the ministry of commerce and industry has licensed 11188 service offices across the country while there are now 338 licensed recruitment firms across the kingdom.

'we have been receiving complaints from saudis and expats about public service offices offering recruitment mediation services. we will fine such offices sr10000 for each violation" the statement said.

the ministry warned that the cases of such offices would be transferred to regional governorates and the ministry of commerce and industry to take punitive action. 'we have to differentiate between recruitment firms and public service offices" the ministry told saudis and expats.
