Tokyo Stocks Rise for 3rd Day to Hit 1.5Month High


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Kyo may 26 (qna) - tokyo shares rose monday for the third consecutive trading day with the nikkei index ending at a one and a half month high on the back of the yen's further depreciation and growing optimism about the u.s. economy.

the 225-issue nikkei stock average climbed 140.35 points or 0.97 percent from friday to 14602.52 its highest finish since april 8 according to japan's (kyodo) news ageny.

the broader topix index of all first section issues on the tokyo stock exchange finished 14.25 points or 1.21 percent higher at 1194.69.

major gainers included brokerage utility service and metal shares. (qna)
