(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Oul may 26 (qna) - chinese foreign minister wang yi will kick off his two-day trip on monday to south korea.
wang will meet with south korean foreign minister yun byung-se on monday and discuss chinese president xi jinping's planned trip to south korea. the two will also hold talks on north korea's nuclear program among other pending issues concerning the korean peninsula and northeast asia according to korea's (kbs world) website.
the two sides are likely to reaffirm that beijing and seoul will not tolerate the north's nuclear ambitions and that pyongyang should refrain from engaging in further nuclear provocations.
wang is expected to stress that the stalled six-way nuclear talks must promptly resume for the stability of the korean peninsula.
wang's visit will be his first to south korea since he assumed office last year.
meanwhile xi is likely to visit south korea next month as seoul wants to see the trip take place within the first half of the year. (qna)
