Kuwait France eye cooperation in water oil & renewable energy


(MENAFN- Arab Times)  kuwait city may 24 (kuna): kuwait institute for scientific research (kisr) director general naji al-mutairi and french ambassador to kuwait christian nakhle met here on saturday on bilateral cooperation in the area of water oil and renewable energy research. the kisr director general said in news statements that his agency is willing to draw upon france's experience in the research and scientific realm calling for closer scientific cooperation between kuwait and france.

the kisr promotes scientific and applied research particularly in matters related to industry natural and food resources and other primary constituents of national economy in an endeavor to serve the goals of economic technological and scientific development and to advise the government on scientific matters and on scientific policy issues.

the kisr is seeking through its fiveyear plan to develop its researches in the fields of water oil and renewable energy research especially a renewable energy project that is part of kuwait's strategy to diversify energy sources. this project is predicted to produce 70 megawatts and once it is completed it can provide around 255000 megawatts of power to 5000 houses per annum he pointed out. on his part french ambassador to kuwait christian nakhle stressed the significant role of the pioneering institute in research and scientific projects and highly touted its great achievements and long experience in various realms. he also voiced admiration at the institute's various activities hoping that bilateral scientific cooperation would be expanded reinforced for the common interest of both friendly countries.

meanwhile chairman of french- arab-gulf friendship association in the french parliament senator philippe marini arrived here on saturday along with a delegation accompanying him on an official three-day visit to the country. during his visit marini is scheduled to meet with parliament speaker marzouq al-ghanim as well as a number of mps and ministers. the french senator's visit aims at assuring importance of parliamentary diplomacy in supporting and boosting bilateral relations between france and kuwait in various areas and developing a mechanism to activate mutual parliamentary visits in order to enhance partnership and deepening kuwaiti-french ties in the forthcoming stage.
