Qatar- Mercury may hit 46 degrees

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The Meteorology Department has forecast a further rise in temperature this week, with Thursday expected to be the hottest day since the beginning of this season. The rise is attributed to an extension of low pressure from India to the Gulf region. The highest temperature would hover between 42 and 46 degrees Celsius during the week, the department said in a statement yesterday. The highest temperature is expected to be on Thursday, at 46 degrees Celsius, four to six degrees higher than the monthly average during this season. The Department has also warned of moderate to strong dust winds during the week, causing high seas. Temperature in Doha today is expected to hover between 32 and 42 degrees Celsius. It has cautioned people against direct exposure to heat and sunlight, especially during peak hours.
