(MENAFN - Arab News) Starbucks partners (employees) renovated the kindergarten and elementary school libraries in addition to installing shelves and supplied an extensive collection of books at king saud international school in riyadh on april 13.
they also supported the local community in alkhobar and jeddah by cleaning the beaches and making them a better place to swim and enjoy the summer on april 15 and 20 respectively as part of starbuck's second annual global month of service (gmos) which aims to mobilize employees and customers to get involved in community service.
as many as 163 starbucks partners (employees) and customers contributed a total of 1368 volunteering hours helping out at the center. this activity was one of many projects carried out during the month of april underlining the commitment of one of the world's most recognid brands to making communities stronger.
commenting on the gmos activity regional communications and csr manager for starbucks mena rana shaheen said: 'starbucks is all about inspiring human connections that create a positive impact on the people we serve. with the gmos initiative we have grown from in-store service into community neighbors making our job roles even more valuable and rewarding. it was also wonderful to see the families of starbucks' partners contribute in the gmos with the same passion and energy."
in addition to gmos starbucks conducts a community connections program which has been running for the past five years across 10 markets in the middle east. this program involves a wide range of community projects including partnerships with local youth groups municipalities schools government agencies and health organizations.
