China's transportation sector keeps stable in April

(MENAFN) Official data showed that China's transportation sector had a stable performance last month, with passenger numbers and cargo volume both increasing compared to a year earlier, Xinhua reported. A spokesman for the Ministry of Transport said that the number of trips by rail, road and water reached USD3.37 billion last month, up 5.1 percent from April of the previous year. The volume of freight transported by train, road, and water hit USD3.83 billion tons, up 7.4 percent year on year, the spokesman added at a press conference. Fixed-asset investment in the railway, highway and waterway sectors reached USD24.3 billion in April, down 1.2 percent compared to the same period a year earlier, driven by waning railway investment.
