U.S. strongly condemns terrorist attacks in Nigeria


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The U.S. strongly condemned Wednesday the multiple "terrorist" attacks in Nigeria, saying such acts demand "accountability and justice." State Department Spokesperson Jennifer Psaki said in a statement "the U.S Government strongly condemns the multiple bomb blasts" in the city of Jos on Tuesday, as well as the bombing in the Sabon-Gari neighborhood of the city of Kano on Sunday. These vicious attacks on defenseless Nigerian civilians and Boko Haramآ's abduction last month of more than 200 girls in Chibok are unconscionable, terrorist acts demanding accountability and justice," she stressed. She affirmed "we continue to stand with the Nigerian Government and people in their efforts to defeat violent extremism in a manner that protects civilians and ensures respect for human rights." Up to 118 people were killed in an explosion in a busy marketplace in Jos and another near a hospital, whereas suicide blast in Kano killed four people on Sunday. While no one has claimed responsibility for the attacks, the militant group Boko Haram is suspected of planning them.
