Oman's first puzzle parking to be operational soon

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Oman's first puzzle parking system being built in a commercial cum residential building in Al Khuwayr will start operations soon.

Built by Intelligent Parking and Elevator Company, the technical arm of the automated car parking solutions provider North Ocean Enterprises, the new parking system will accommodate over 140 cars. ''The parking, built over 2,200 sq m, will be able to accommodate as many as 146 cars. The system also helped us save on excavation, firefighting and lighting costs,'' said Anil Cherian, general manager, Intelligent Parking and Elevator Company.

He added that the puzzle type parking is equipped to accommodate more cars in a limited space.

''Unlike the elevator parking that transfers vehicles only up and down, the puzzle parking is a system that combines lateral and vertical movement of pallets with the aim of accommodating the maximum number of cars within the space available. Our main aim was to build a budget parking system,'' said Shabbir Boriyawala, chairman, IPark.

Thasleem Khan, CEO and managing partner of North Ocean Enterprises said, ''We have received more than 500 contracts so far for building different types of parking systems in Oman and they are in various stages.

''We are very proud of our team which has been doing a great work towards providing eco-friendly solutions of automatic parking in Oman.''

The system has been built in cooperation with Korean company Simmatec Internationa
