Tales of Colours by MoE staff goes on display at Omani-French Centre

(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Tales of Colours, a solo exhibition by Dr Hanan al Shihi opened on Tuesday at the Omani French Centre (CFO) under the patronage of H E Dr Madeeha bint Ahmed bin Nassir al Shibaniyah, Minister of Education, and H E Yves Oudin, Ambassador of France to Oman.

Dr Hanan, who works with the Ministry of Education, has spent seven years on this collection of 25 paintings featuring both acrylics and oils.

This is her first solo exhibition. She has participated in several exhibitions at the Omani Society for Fine Arts.

The paintings, which range in size from 30x30cm to 160x100cm, and priced between RO500 and RO2,500, feature Dr Hanan's unique style, ''It's my style. It's contemporary. It's similar to expressionism, but I don't see it fitting into any school. The colours I use vary from pastels to very bold. On some of my works, I use a lot of colours, and on others I limit them to three.''

Speaking about the regularly-organised exhibitions at CFO, Dr Hanan said, ''The ministry works very closely with CFO and the French Embassy's cultural department. These exhibitions play a big role in the cultural landscape here. Omani and non-Omani artists are invited to showcase their works and people have come to see CFO as not just a language institute, but as a cultural centre in Oman.''

The exhibition will conclude on June 12.<
