(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Abdullah al Bakri, Minister of Manpower on Tuesday signed agreements worth over RO1.1mn to train more than 1,700 citizens in various disciplines. Besides, agreements worth over RO4mn were signed for carrying out construction works in various governorates.

H E Hamad bin Khamis al Amri, Undersecretary for Labour Affairs in the Ministry of Manpower (MoM) said that the ministry has signed the training agreements to further improve manpower skills in the sultanate.

As many as 106 Omanis will be trained in administrative fields, sales, customer service, store-keeping and warehousing.

According to a press release, 146 citizens have also enrolled for training in technical jobs like electrical wiring, automobile mechanics, driving, operating heavy equipment, computer assisted drawing (CAD), welding, maintenance of electric cars, refrigerators, printing and publishing.

As many as 162 will receive training in crafts, hospitality jobs like cooking, reception, room service and travel and tourism services.

H E Amri added that, the Minister of Manpower has signed another three agreements with domestic companies on building constructions.

These include a pact on having integrated building for the Salalah College of Technology. The building will have large classrooms, laboratories and offices. Government buildings will also come up in Musandam and Buraimi governorates, he added.

One of the agreements relates to building a new hall in the general directorate office in North Batinah.
