Qatar- Ezdan backs Tarsheed campaign


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) As part of a memorandum of understanding signed between Ezdan Holding Group and Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation - Kahramaa - to rationalise power and water consumption in Qatar, Nasser Mohammed Al Abdulla, Deputy CEO of the Group, yesterday handed over a sponsorship cheque for QR2.5m to Senior Engineer Abdulla Majed Al Khulaifi, Head, Conservation Technology, Conservation and Energy Efficiency Department, Kahramaa. "The Group is working diligently in cooperation and coordination with those in charge of the national programme for the rationalisation and energy efficiency (Tarsheed) to apply all instructions of the programme and use of their expertise concerning the reduction of energy consumption in all the Group projects," said Al Abdulla. "Adopting implementation of such programme will start with Al Shamal compound project, in which we seek to reduce consumption of electricity and water in the compound by 20 percent during the next three years," he said, noting the Group is mulling to use solar energy (clean energy) to generate electricity in the compound. He said H E Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani was keen to effectively translate the agreement into reality for the benefit of the Qatari society and the future of the people. He said the Group is about to coordinate with Kahramaa, providing electronic electricity meter system for Ezdan Towers in Dafna in line with the rationalisation of electricity consumption initiative. Kahramaa and the Group signed the MoU to strengthen cooperation to support plans and initiatives of 'Tarsheed'.
