Saudi- Countdown clocks on ongoing projects to be reinstalled

(MENAFN- Arab News) Jeddah mayoralty spokesman muhammad al-baqmi said that the reason for removal of the digital clocks that used to show the remaining days for the completion of bridges and tunnels in jeddah in real time was because they were out of order.

'the clocks were out of order so we had to remove them. however we intend to install new digital clocks soon" he said.

jeddah's residents have been wondering at the delays in the implementation of the various construction projects on its streets and highways. 'the clocks used to give information on how many days remained for the completion of the project and also the reason for the failure of some projects.

now that's what i call transparency" nayif al-qarni a jeddah resident said.

he added that at one time there was an incident at the intersection of prince majid st. and tahliyah st. which he only found out from the social media.

'for quite some time now these clocks have been missing from the projects so we could no longer find out when a certain project would be completed. i used to check the mayoralty's webpage but all i could find was the project's title and its cost" he said.

saad al-johani another resident said 'we are entitled to know how long it will take for a project to be completed. these projects often cause inconvenience to commuters so it is important for us to know when they will be finished."
