pullman dubai deira city centre hotel the unique 5-star hotel in the heart of dubai recently unveiled its new look after a complete refurbishment to reflect the hotel’s commitment to contemporary art.
located in the deira district the landmark hotel is popular amongst business and leisure travellers due to its proximity to one of the city’s largest malls and to dubai international airport. the recent renovation was completed in several stages over a period of three years with an investment of dh135 million.
“it has been an interesting journey getting here; our interior design partner in this project lw design helped in bringing the contemporary and modern signature feel of pullman into the hotel. it was an adventure adapting and working with the existing layout and design of the building and we are proud to say that the results speak for themselves” said laurent chaudet general manager of pullman dubai deira city centre hotel.
speaking to khaleej times on the recent renovations chaudet said: “although the original room space and configuration were kept the interior design concept overlook and feel were thoroughly revamped. the room floors were divided into lavender and apple floors. the lavender floors have shades visible from the corridor to the rooms whereas in the apple floors greens are present. all the food and beverage area were completely changed.”
“in comparison to the old design wherein the lobby was very classical now it has been made very contemporary with natural daylight streaming through the entire area and two huge art pieces displayed highlighting the contemporary art presence in the hotel. the meetings floor has been completely redesigned with a more masculine feel featuring dark woods and brown hues in comparison to the creams and light wooden furnishing it used to have before” he elaborated.
asked if the renovation was part of the brand’s global strategy or particular only to the pullman dubai deira city centre hotel chaudet explained that the renovation was required for the hotel to be competitive in dubai’s market. “the design is chic and contemporary which fits the pullman brand ideology. on the same note our sister hotels in pullman paris have gone through renovations as well to ensure that their design speaks the brand’s look and feel. the pullman deira city centre residence is currently under renovation with a scheduled re-opening in the last quarter of the year.”
he added: “in reference to the hotel now that it is fully renovated in terms of performance as compared to last year there is an improvement of 40 per cent for rooms and a 20 per cent increase in food and beverage in the first quarter. we expect to continuously maintain this performance increase for this year.”
highlighting the hotel’s strategy for the upcoming expo 2020 event chaudet stressed that the hotel’s main strategy in competing with the rest of dubai for expo 2020 was to stay true to their brand ideology of ‘work hard play hard.’
he noted: “expo 2020 will allow various brands who are already here to develop further. this will also provide a platform for those international hotel brands that do not operate here as yet. we would expect more hotels to open with distinct offerings and more tourist areas will be developed such as entertainment parks or something similar which will definitely increase the traffic of tourists in dubai.”
“dubai is already stable and has been continuously developing as a tourist and a business hub. unlike other destinations which were built mainly for the purpose of hosting an expo the market will sustain – the hotels will be busy even after the expo 2020” chaudet predicted.
