S. Korea's foreign online purchases up 50 percent


(MENAFN) Customs data showed that the South Koreans total amount of foreign internet purchases made through online shopping malls jumped more than 50 percent in the January-April period year-on-year, QNA reported. According to the Korea Customs Service (KCS), South Koreans bought USD478.8 million worth of products through overseas shopping malls during the first four months, up 56 percent compared to a year earlier. South Korea's (Yonhap) News Agency said that about 5 million purchases were made through foreign websites during the period, up 52 percent compared to the same period a year ago. Female and younger shoppers accounted for the major percentage of overseas direct purchases more than other consumer groups, due to their good skills in handling the Internet.
