(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) As part of its recruitment drive, Oman Air recently held an Open Day at the Sultan Qaboos University (SQU).
A press release stated that the airline aims to increase the number of Omanis on its payroll and the open day at SQU provided an ideal opportunity for this initiative.
It attracted good response from both students and fresh graduates, who were keen to find out more about Oman Air and the career opportunities it offers. 'Staff from the airline were on hand to offer advice and guidance and Dr Rashid al Ghailani, the airline's chief officer - human resources, was impressed by the calibre of those who attended its stand,' the release stated
Ghailani was quoted in the release as saying, ''SQU is a prestigious institute and the students we met at the Open Day demonstrated great potential for a career in the airline industry. We look forward to receiving job applications, and to welcoming the successful candidates to Oman Air's growing workforce.''
Around two-thirds of Oman Air's current workforce comprises citizens and the airline aims to increase that figure in line with the country's policy of Omanisation.
The airline's renewed recruitment drive comes as it prepares for the arrival of the first of the 20 new aircraft it currently has on order as part of its expansion programme later this year .
Dr Ghailani added, ''SQU offers employers an outstanding pool from which new staff can be drawn and their Open Day has provided both employers and candidates with the perfect opportunity to find out more about each other and plan for the future. Oman Air would like to thank the varsity for their cooperation.''<
