Kia global sales top 30 million in May

(MENAFN) Kia Motors Corp., the second largest South Korean automaker, announced that its global sales will top the 30 million mark in May, after 52 years since it launched its first vehicle, QNA reported. Combined sales in April stood at just under 29.93 million units, said the carmaker, which is now under the wing of Hyundai Motor Group since 2000. According to Kia, the company's growth took off after it joined Hyundai Motor. From 2000 through late April of 2014, the carmaker's sales exceeded 22.59 million units, which is three-fourths of the total cars sold throughout its corporate history. "Since Kia has sold an average 260,000 vehicles per month in 2014, it is almost certain that the 30 million figure will be reached," the company said.
