(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Bul may 18 (qna) - afghan security forces foiled a suicide attack on an intelligence compound in southern kandahar province of afghanistan early sunday morning.
a suicide bomber who was looking to attack a compound of the national directorate of security (nds) was shot dead by security forces according to the afghan (khaama press).
provincial governor spokesman dawa khan meenapal said the incident took place around 7:00 am local time in kandahar city.
meenapal further added that the suicide bomber was looking to attack the nds compound and detonated his explosives after he was recognized by afghan security forces.
he said afghan security forces and the civilians did not suffer any casualties following the incident.
the anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the incident so far. (qna)
