Arab League monitors Egyptian presidential polls


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Arab League said here on Saturday it is monitoring the vote of Egyptian expatriates in the presidential elections, which began on Thursday and ends on Sunday. The league's election observation team chief Haifa Abu Ghazala said in a statement she was in touch with Egypt's presidential election watchdog in order to check underway preparations and arrangements for presidential elections due on May 26-27. She said the committee had briefed her on the other international organizations that would take part in the observation of the presidential race in Egypt. Some 100 observers of the Arab League will be taking part in the watching of the Egyptian presidential polls nationwide, the league's official pointed out. She reiterated the inter-Arab bloc's keenness on bolstering and consolidating the democratic process in all its member states in general and Egypt in particular.
