Oman residents playing a role in boosting its tourism

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) When Tutuni Dey, a former student of Indian School Muscat currently studying in India's Symbiosis Institute took up a five-year course in architecture, little did she know that her love for Oman will make her the sultanate's tourism ambassador.

Tutuni, a Bangladeshi national, has managed to convince her classmates and teachers to visit Oman. ''A group of 40 students from my institute will most likely visit Oman. The students and teachers were quite impressed when I told them about Oman's architectural heritage, especially that of the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque,'' said Tutuni who is spending her summer break in Muscat with her parents. There are many students and professionals like Tutuni who fondly share their experiences with fellow students and friends and end up promoting Oman's rich heritage.

And what makes Oman an attractive destination for many is that it is beautiful and affordable. Lizbeth Borillo, a Filipino who studied in Oman for 16 years, said she wanted to go back to her country, but started missing the sultanate.

"I missed Oman so much that I came back and took up a job here. When I was staying in Philippines, I would constantly talk about my experiences in Oman and how beautiful it was. As a result, one of my friends also took up a job here. Many of my other friends have also decided to visit Oman during their holidays," said Lizbeth.

Radhika Punshi, who lived in Oman earlier and currently works in Dubai, had a similar story. ''My husband and I studied in Oman. He is a Sri Lankan and I am from India. We both love Oman and tell our friends and relatives about its rich heritage. During our stay in Oman, many of our friends from Sri Lanka and India used to visit us. Now, my friends in Dubai want to visit Oman,'' she said.<
