(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) United Real Estate Company's Salalah Gardens Mall and Residences Project in Oman has won the Leisure and Tourism Project of the Year award in MEED Quality Awards for Projects 2014.
A press release stated that UAE led with four awards, followed by Bahrain and Saudi Arabia with three each. Oman and Qatar had one award-winning project each.
''We received a record number of entrants this year, and expected a stiffer competition from completed projects across the GCC. This is a clear affirmation that the projects industry throughout the region has regained its robustness, completing projects at a much faster pace following the slowdown in recent years.
''We congratulate the winners for delivering their projects to the highest quality standards and contributing to the socio-economic development of the region,'' Edmund O' Sullivan, chairman, MEED was quoted in the release as saying.
UAE-based projects emerged triumphant in four categories.
Bahrain Petroleum Company's Install Refinery Wastewater Treatment Plant Project received the evening's highest honour, the MEED Quality Project of the Year and the Sustainable Project of the Year trophy.
Saudi Arabia won three awards.
