(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Five houses in a Ghubra building were targeted in burglaries carried out within two hours on Friday evening. The worth of items stolen is being pegged at thousands of rials.
The houses in Bait Hoor building were broken into when the families were out. A resident of the building said the thefts took place between 7.30pm and 9pm. ''Residents of these five apartments were out. The burglars broke open the main doors. Two flats on the third floor and three on the fifth floor were targeted,'' he said.
He said the burglars, maybe more than two of them, had come with tools. ''They searched for valuables in cupboards and drawers in the houses. Residents feel that there were more than two members in the gang. The total loss is pegged at thousands of rials,'' he added.
The items stolen include gold, cameras, watches, tablet computers and other electronic items. The flats were occupied by Indian, Pakistani, Egyptian and Iranian families.
Police have launched a hunt for the culprits. A house in the same locality was burgled on May 10 when the family was away.<
